True love lasts a lifetime.

But sometimes, life just gets in the way . . .

It’s the opening weekend of the first ever boutique ‘divorce hotel’ and three couples arrive to ditch their emotional baggage, once and for all, and move on.

It’s make or break time for Lucy and Andrew, Jo and Dave and Dawn and Kirk. But the hotel’s manager, Chloe Townsend, is one very special lady. As she settles her guests in, it becomes clear that this weekend is going to bring some big surprises.

Because some things are worth fighting for – and what seems like an unhappy ending can be a very exciting new beginning …

And when the weekend draws to a close, no-one is going to be more surprised than Chloe herself.

If you love MARIAN KEYES and SOPHIE KINSELLA you will love this!

The Review

Of late I have gone off reading romance stories. I don’t know what it is because the romance book used to be my book of choice. I loved getting lost in the romantic whirl of new characters. I couldn’t actually tell you the last romance book I read but since I am trying to beat the backlog of books on my NetGalley list (the number is too shameful to share) I decided to start near the beginning of the book list and yes this book was out in 2014. I hang my head in shame. It was a lovely surprise when I wasn’t put off by the romantic story. In fact, I actually bloody loved this story.

Told in the multi-perspective, Love Me or Leave Me focuses on the horrible nature of divorce. Set in Dublin, Chloe – a recent heartbreakee gets her dream job of managing a hotel. This is a hotel with a difference though. It is where separated couples come to finalise their break up. Do all the messy paperwork but in a relaxed way in a hotel full of luxuries. We meet several couples who are here to break up each with their own unique reasons for wanting to split. But their time at the hotel leaves them wondering if they really should give up on their relationships.

It was such a light read and it was just what I needed after a few heavy stories. Something that was a lovely distraction.

Charming and delightful, definitely a beach read.

The Feel Good One: Part of the Love…Maybe ebook short story collection.

It’s Valentine’s Day and, for single girl Kate, the only thing that could make that worse would be having to go to her own fortieth birthday party as well! Every year it’s the same: people asking if she has got herself a man yet. And every year she has to say no.

Once upon a time the idea of a fabulous, successful career seemed more important than ‘settling down’ but now she’s beginning to wish she hadn’t bid her teenage crush goodbye to take a job in London…if only, thinks Kate, she and her best mates could turn back time and be 21 again.

But Kate should be careful what she wishes for…

The Review

Well this was a cute little story. It plays on the whole ‘what if’ premise. What if we could have out time again? And it leaves the message that you should be grateful for what you have in life.

Single, Forty and Fabulous is a mixture of 13 Going on 30 meets Big. It is only with a reflection of the past that we can appreciate the future and vice versa.

Do I think the story could have been developed more? Yes, I think it would have made a good novella rather than a short story and I also think in the modern correct time period that more could have been made of the character James but overall it was a sweet little read.

Dreams come true on Christmas day … don’t they?

It’s three days until Lucy and Andrew’s perfect winter wedding. Over Christmas dinner the two families will meet for the first time.
What could possibly go wrong?!

Jo has planned her first Christmas as a married woman with military precision. But it seems her new husband Dave has gone missing …

Strict vegans Dawn and Kirk slave away over a unique Christmas feast, but Dawn’s mum doesn’t like mung beans. And she certainly doesn’t like Kirk …

Will these couples survive the Christmas madness and get the day they dreamed of?

The Review

What a disappointing short story!

All I Want for Christmas focuses on the lives of three couples and the problems that face modern love. So far so good, right? However, the stories are never fully developed. We have no idea what happens to these characters; if I am honest we don’t really have time enough to fall in love with them either. Yet, we are left with a very ambiguous ending that destroys any possible Christmas cheer.

I don’t really know what else to say about All I Want for Christmas. I am just very disappointed.

Love isn’t always like it is in the movies … or is it?

Amy has moved to the city that never sleeps, and now she’s looking for love.

But after a string of dating disasters it seems that finding Mr. Right isn’t quite as easy as Amy first thought.

Following in the footsteps of her favourite New York movies Amy is determined to have that romantic Manhattan moment. But like all good romances – love often turns up in the most unexpected of places…

A heart-warming, 23 page short story from best-selling author, Claudia Carroll, this is the perfect read for Valentine’s Day.

The Review

It is strange that New York (along with a few other cities) has been romanticised by the media. Movies, songs and books all sell it as the most romantic city in the world. New York is the setting for the Claudia Carroll short In a New York Minute.

Thirty-something Amy has wangled a job transfer for one year to the most exciting city in the world and she is determined to make that year count. Amy plans to do this by falling in love. She decides to date a number of men in specific, famous locations around the city. However, like all bourgeoning love stories, Amy’s dates don’t seem to go to plan.

In a New York Minute is a simple classic fairy tale love story about finding Mr Right in the right place at the right time. There is nothing more to it really. The story is too short for you to really fall in love with the hero or bond with the heroine. It just leaves you with a feeling of indifference.

This story is nice. That is it. It won’t change your life; it probably won’t even change your day but it is nice.
