The Review

The third book in the Movie Magic series may just be my favourite. In it we learn about all the little things that make up the Harry Potter movies – the Amazing Artifacts.

It is shocking just how much effort goes into these movies. Whether it be the thousands upon thousands of labels printed out to make the potions lessons look realistic or the shape of the wands suited to each character, this book offers you insight into the little details that make the world that JK Rowling has created just so special.

In my opinion this book is the most interesting in the series.

The Review

Out of the series of Movie Magic books, Curious Creatures wasn’t my favourite. I think I am more interested in the characters and the artefacts than the magical animals but that doesn’t mean that I am not impressed by the effort that went in to creating them.

Zahed really does show you the depth of knowledge and creativity of the people involved in the movies. It is just personal preference that made this book less exciting for me.

The Review

I am a huge Harry Potter fan. Personally, I prefer the books but I cannot help but love the movies too. I have had JK Rowling’s Wizarding World – Movie Magic – Volume One: Extraordinary People and Fascinating Places by Jodie Revenson sitting on my bookshelf forever and in a bid to make more room on my bookshelves by reading some of the larger books I started the Movie Magic series.

They are fascinating. I know a lot of work goes into making movies but the effort to make sure every character is perfect and every place meets the expectations of the readers is truly breathtaking.

The books in the series have an element of fun to them with moving parts and what not which is always appreciated.

I loved learning more about the characters and what the actors brought to the creation of who they play, whether it is wand choice or contact lenses. The little titbits of information are like catnip to the true Harry Potter fan.

The Review

I am not going to lie to you. I am a mad Harry Potter fangirl so anything Potter related I am pre-destined to love. However, my love for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by JK Rowling is actually based on more. It is just a wonderful story.

I am constantly saying to friends and other Potterheads that JK Rowling needs to write wizarding history.  I want to know more about The Order of the Phoenix, more about You-Know-Who’s life, more about the Lestrange family. Just more, really. I think that I why I was so excited when the Pottermore series was released in September, why I sat on the hallway stairs waiting for The Cursed Child to be delivered (I was there for 8 hours – it stopped being funny really quickly) and why I was so excited for the release of fantastic beasts.

It is the back story of such a random and little mentioned character in the Harry Potter series but it packs such an impact and drips through to the series in such a subtle way. Newt Scamander has docked in New York with hopes to find a rare creature. What ensues is a series of wacky and magical adventures that has you wishing you weren’t a muggle.

JK Rowling has, once again, delivered another fabulous piece to the Potter puzzle. Heed my words Rowling, WE WANT MORE!

The Review

Along with every other Harry Potter fan, I long for more Hogwarts adventures. I don’t know what exactly other people want but I would love a series of books from when Lily, James, Sirius and co were all younger and, more importantly, from the days of the Order of the Phoenix. People want to know JK. Write more books!

Anywho, I was very excited about this series of books and oh wow did they blow my mind. I loved learning about the history of Hogwarts and more about the supporting cast of Harry Potter. This is what I want more of. Who knew Minerva McGonagal’s past was so fraught with heartache or the exact details of Professor Trewlany’s legacy?

This series will satiate the appetite of any HP fan….but don’t expect it to last too long. WE. WANT. MORE!
